Dyson, a brand known for its innovative and cutting-edge engineering, recently launched a new addition to its lineup – the Dyson Car+Boat handheld vacuum. As a fan of Dyson’s boundary-pushing designs, I was eager to see what they had in store for this new product.
Upon receiving the review model and unboxing it, I couldn’t shake off a sense of dรฉjร vu. The Car+Boat felt strikingly familiar, almost like a replica of the Dyson V8. As I compared the two vacuums side by side, it became evident that the Car+Boat was essentially a modified version of the V8, with just one new attachment thrown in.
Dyson’s decision to rebrand the V8 as the Car+Boat by simply removing the wand and floorheads and adding a new attachment may seem disappointing, especially for existing Dyson owners. The fact that two out of the three attachments included with the Car+Boat are standard accessories with Dyson’s stick vacuums further adds to the feeling of redundancy.
However, despite the lack of significant innovation in the Car+Boat, there are still some redeeming qualities to consider. The compact size and lightweight design of the V8 make it an ideal choice for handheld use. While newer Dyson models may boast of advanced features, the V8 excels in its simplicity and portability, making it a practical option for quick clean-ups in cars or small spaces.
Although the Car+Boat may not offer groundbreaking advancements, it serves its purpose as a reliable handheld vacuum. The generous battery life and compact design make it a convenient choice for on-the-go cleaning tasks. While it may not revolutionize the handheld vacuum market, the V8 remains a solid and dependable option.
As Dyson continues to explore new avenues in vacuum technology, the Car+Boat serves as a reminder of the brand’s commitment to quality and reliability. Despite its lack of novelty, the V8 retains its status as a versatile and efficient handheld vacuum, showcasing Dyson’s dedication to practical design and performance.
