Uncover and Erase Your Social Media Skeletons with This Simple Trick!

In the age of social media, our online profiles can act as time capsules, preserving memories and moments that may be best left in the past. The things we’ve posted years ago might not necessarily reflect who we are today, and that’s where the urge to delete ancient social media posts comes in – to shield ourselves from potential embarrassment or judgment. Fortunately, the process of finding and removing old posts is more straightforward than you might think. Whether it’s Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram, we’ve got you covered with tips on how to tidy up your digital footprint across various platforms.

Facebook

  1. Web Version:
    • Select your name to access your profile.
    • Click the Filters button below your posts.
    • Use the Go to drop-down menu to choose the year you joined Facebook.
    • Click Done to view posts from that specific year.
  2. Mobile Version:
    • Open the Facebook app and visit your profile.
    • Tap the Filters link next to your posts.
    • Navigate through a calendar to find older posts.

Tip: Can’t remember when you joined Facebook? Follow these steps to locate your account creation date in the app settings.

X / Twitter

  1. Use X’s search feature to find your older posts – also known as tweets.
    • Type (from:username) until:yyyy-mm-dd since:yyyy-mm-dd in the search bar.
    • Adjust the dates and hit Enter to sort posts chronologically.
  2. Deleting Tweets:
    • Click the three dots next to a tweet, then select Delete to remove it.

Tip: If you’re unsure about your account’s creation date, check your Profile for this information.

Instagram

  • Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
  • Tap on your profile picture, then select Your activity > Posts.
  • Sort posts from Newest to oldest and reverse the order to see your earliest posts.

Tip: The All dates function allows you to filter posts within specific date ranges.

If you come across posts you’d rather not keep, simply delete or archive them using the options provided within each platform. By cleaning up your social media presence, you can present a more polished and relevant online image, whether for personal nostalgia or professional purposes. Don’t let your past posts overshadow your present self – take control of your digital history today.
