Check out David Lin's interview of Prof Hanke the other day. Hanke was the Elon/Vivek in the Reagan administration. He prepared a report detailing 2500 potential cuts to govt. Not one single thing got cut. Politics always gets in the way. America is f–kkd.

Basically, they are assuming that NO CHANGES will be made to regulations that allow fewer people to be more effective and therefore start to actually LIKE their job. Further, from this perspective alone, the possible job cuts will be way greater than 25%, while increasing agency throughput and eliminating the billions spent each year on reams of 80gsm paper and printer inks. Because even after printing, the result is still mostly worthless.

DOGE won’t be a new govt agency but an outside advisor who can recommend changes/cuts to the President/Congress but no legal power to do anything. The largest Federal agency is Dept of Veterans Affairs followed by DHS which houses ICE and DoD. Dept of Education is the smallest of the Cabinet-level agencies. Historically drastic cuts or changes were resisted by various groups like unions, constituencies, and Congress.

We should be clear about this. The Department of Government Efficiency will not be closing any federal agencies. They have no authority to do anything. They only way they can get authority is through the legislative process. That is not going to happen. Too many Republican Senators who rely on those earmarked federal expenditures in their constituencies.
In addition to that, no one, not even the president, can just throw people out of work. That must be done through the legislative process, and again, you have a lot of Republican Senators who rely on that employment in their constituencies.
Elon Musk is apparently unaware of how government works. He'll learn.

The first step for the newly established DOGE Agency should be to terminate all multi-billion dollar government contracts with SpaceX, as funding a trip to Mars is a wasteful use of government funds and should be financed by Elon Musk himself. (Sarcasm)

I couldn’t BE more excited to see DOGE go to work on the Fed Govt!! However, I’m not so naive to believe it’ll be a one and done project. In DC, BOTH PARTIES, are far too in love with spending to help themselves from letting these cuts start creeping (if not racing!) back in to their annual spending!!!
We MUST find a way to eliminate the PORK from spending bills and the RIDICULOUS, shrimp on treadmills studies, funding trans awareness in Guatemala, and every other ridiculous thing they can think of to waste OUR MONEY, that they’d never open THEIR OWN WALLET FOR if someone on the street was asking for it!!
These DOGE sweeps need Congressional action to back them up so they can’t return with the famous “pen and a phone”, and will require vigilance; perhaps a complete sweep thru every dept every 5-10 years or so for an “efficiency” audit!
We’ve been given a TREMENDOUS gift with this election, and the combination of Elon and Vivek taking on this huge task that truly belongs to the ppl we actually PAY to be fiduciaries of OUR MONEY!!
We CAN NOT squander this opportunity to make desperately needed, lasting change in our Federal Govt!! -
Any cuts will be welcome since the waste has exploded in the last 20 years to a level that is not sustainable. Sadly the most supporters of these protecting these waste buckets will be most hurt when this nation collapse. The IRS needs to start by focusing on those that owe the most. When you spend millions to get $1 from me but ignore those that owe millions, how dumb do they think we are?
