As the seasons change and life progresses, it’s easy to get caught up in the routine of retirement. However, recent inspiration from Confessions of a Grandma has prompted me to share my own updates and adventures with you. Let’s dive into the whirlwind of activities that have kept me busy lately:
- Family Visits: Like many retirees, my winter was filled with family visits. From spending time in South Carolina with the grandchildren to planning a trip to Wisconsin, our days are filled with love and laughter. We may be old, but our spirits are young and vibrant as we soak in precious moments with our loved ones.
- Healthcare Adventures: Ah, the joys of aging gracefully. From routine doctor’s appointments to considering knee replacement surgery, my healthcare journey has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. While the golf season has kicked off and my swing is improving, the specter of physical therapy looms on the horizon. Life truly is a balancing act of health and happiness.
- Hobbies and Activities: Ping Pong, Pickleball, golf, and volunteering – my days are filled with a medley of activities that keep me engaged and active. Whether I’m reliving the historic events of the 1960s in a class or diving into the depths of oceanography, each day presents an opportunity to learn and grow.
- Literary Escapades: From true tales of shipwrecks to fictional mysteries, my book group has explored a variety of genres this spring. Each story offers a unique perspective and a chance to escape into a different world. And let’s not forget the joy of curling up with a good book at the end of the day.
- Screen Time: Netflix and Amazon Prime have been our companions on lazy evenings, providing a moment of relaxation and entertainment. While there are no specific recommendations to share, the simple pleasure of watching a show after a long day is a delight in itself.
As I reflect on the past few months, I am grateful for the health, happiness, and opportunities that have come my way. I hope that you, too, are finding joy in the everyday moments and staying connected with loved ones. Let’s continue to embrace life’s adventures, big and small, and savor each moment with gratitude and enthusiasm.
