In a world where the safety and productivity of real estate professionals are paramount, one technology startup is making waves with its innovative solutions. Tether RE has emerged as the winner of the sixth annual Pitch Battle at the National Association of REALTORS®’ 2024 Innovation, Opportunity & Investment (iOi) Summit held in Chicago.
Here are the key highlights and takeaways from this year’s Pitch Battle:
- Innovative Solutions: Tether RE offers a suite of tools designed to enhance the safety and productivity of real estate professionals. These tools include 24-hour safety monitoring, client verification, SOS alerts, proximity safety timers, and fall and crash alerts. Additionally, the platform integrates features like turn-by-turn navigation, automatic mileage and expense tracking, and personalized agent branding to boost agent productivity.
- Competition: The Pitch Battle featured twelve companies with solutions ranging from 3D-printed homes to HELOCs. These contestants presented their four-minute pitches to a diverse audience of more than 400 conference attendees, including venture capitalists, futurists, and real estate professionals. The event was also livestreamed to thousands of virtual attendees.
- Recognition: As the victor of the Pitch Battle, Tether RE will receive a prize package that includes $15,000, a national platform to increase market share, and a booth at NAR NXT, The REALTOR® Experience, in Boston.
Vanessa Martin, cofounder of Tether RE, emphasized the importance of the platform in light of the safety risks faced by real estate agents. She stated, “Last year alone, 30,000 real estate agents were victims of violent crimes. We are proud of the platform we’ve created, and we know it will help agents when they need it most. It’s time to focus on what matters because the most important part of any deal is making it home safely.”
Dan Weisman, NAR director of innovation strategy, praised the innovative strides showcased at the event. He highlighted Tether RE’s ingenuity as an example of the progressive advancements being made in the real estate sector. Weisman stated, “The ingenuity displayed by Tether RE represents the progressive strides we support at the iOi Summit and NAR’s ongoing efforts to enhance the services provided to real estate professionals and consumers alike. We congratulate Tether RE on their outstanding achievement.”
In addition to Tether RE’s win, the Crowd Favorite award went to Tuesday, a social MLS app exclusively for agents. Tuesday CEO Coleton Boyer described the mobile-first approach of the app, which streamlines real estate market intelligence into a user-friendly social feed. Boyer likened the app to “the energy of your Tuesday meeting, the ease of your Instagram feed, and the exact same data you get on the MLS.”
The 2024 Pitch Battle was a testament to the groundbreaking innovations shaping the real estate industry. From enhancing safety measures to streamlining market intelligence, these startups are revolutionizing the way real estate professionals operate. As we look to the future, it is crucial to support and champion these innovative solutions that benefit not only real estate professionals but also the clients they serve.
