Revolutionary Climate Moves: Biden-Harris Slash Emissions, Cut Home Energy Bills!

As President Biden gears up to address global climate action during his upcoming visit to the Amazon, the Biden-Harris Administration continues to prioritize climate leadership and environmental preservation. Since taking office, the administration has been steadfast in implementing ambitious climate, conservation, and clean energy initiatives as part of the Investing in America agenda. With the largest investment in climate and clean energy ever secured in the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the administration has kickstarted a clean energy revolution that has attracted significant private sector investments, created numerous clean energy jobs, and reduced energy costs for families across the country.

In line with the Investing in America agenda, the administration is now unveiling new climate investments aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting clean energy manufacturing, and lowering energy costs for households and businesses.

These investments coincide with President Biden’s upcoming milestone visit to the Amazon, where he will engage with local and Indigenous leaders, emphasizing the importance of preserving this vital ecosystem. Additionally, the president will continue his journey to Lima, Peru, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to highlight the economic benefits of accelerating climate action on a global scale.

Furthermore, the recent investments in climate and clean energy encompass the following key initiatives:

  1. Funding for energy efficiency and climate-friendly practices: The U.S. Department of Energy is allocating nearly $18 million to support energy efficiency and decarbonization projects in 61 local and territorial governments. These projects aim to save energy, reduce climate pollution, and advance local energy goals, benefiting communities nationwide.
  2. Support for clean energy in American farms and rural small businesses: The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing over $256 million to fund more than 1,100 clean energy projects in 40 states. These projects, funded through the Rural Energy for America Program, will enhance access to clean energy, reduce costs, and bolster the resilience of American farms and small businesses.
  3. Promotion of cleaner construction materials for transportation projects: The U.S. Department of Transportation is providing $1.2 billion to states under the Low Carbon Transportation Materials Discretionary Grant Program. This program aims to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging the use of cleaner construction materials, such as asphalt, glass, steel, and concrete, in infrastructure projects.

The collective efforts of President Biden and Vice President Harris have already made significant strides in reducing emissions, creating jobs, and enhancing manufacturing capabilities across various sectors. With a strong commitment to combatting climate change, protecting the environment, and promoting economic prosperity, the administration is setting the stage for a sustainable and resilient future for generations to come.
