Revamped Box Maker AMG Expands with State-of-the-Art Equipment and Plans for Massive New Headquarters

AMG Packaging & Paper Company Limited is on the brink of a significant transformation. The box maker is gearing up to enhance its productivity by acquiring a top-of-the-line corrugator and complementary equipment. However, this leap forward comes with a challenge – finding a suitable location that can accommodate this new machinery along with supporting resources.

  1. Consolidation Plans:

    • Chairman Metry Seaga laid out the company’s ambitious plans at its annual general meeting. The main goal for 2025 is to acquire the corrugator, along with other equipment to boost productivity tenfold.
    • The current facility on Retirement Road in Kingston is bursting at the seams. Seaga emphasized the need for a purpose-built factory that can house all their equipment and provide enough space for the team to thrive.
  2. Export Aspirations:

    • AMG Packaging has its eyes set on the international market, with plans to export its products in the future. This strategic move is aimed at lowering prices, increasing production capacity, and potentially penetrating foreign markets.
    • General Manager Michael Chin highlighted the importance of expanding space and acquiring the corrugator to fuel their export ambitions. By improving efficiency and cutting costs, they aim to compete with foreign box manufacturers effectively.
  3. Financial Snapshot:
    • Despite facing challenges like Tropical Cyclone Raphael disrupting operations, AMG Packaging remains resilient. Revenues took a hit in the past quarter, but the company’s long-term financial health is sound.
    • Installing new equipment like the 2 Color Flexo Folder is expected to ramp up efficiency and offset any temporary setbacks. With an annual revenue exceeding $1 billion and a healthy cash reserve of $380 million, the company is well-positioned for growth.

As AMG Packaging embarks on this transformative journey, the road ahead is filled with promise and potential. By upgrading its equipment, expanding its facilities, and setting its sights on international markets, the company is poised for a new chapter of growth and success. With dedication and strategic planning, AMG Packaging is ready to take on whatever challenges come its way and emerge stronger than ever.
