Sailing into Success: Port Miami Sets New Record for Cruise Industry
Port of Miami, known as the Cruise Capital of the World, has set a remarkable new milestone in the cruise industry. Fiscal Year 2024 saw a record-breaking number of passengers, totaling 8,233,056 travelers from October 1, 2023, to September 30, representing a significant 12.79% increase compared to the previous record in Fiscal Year 2023, as reported by Cruise Industry News.
The achievement was met with praise and recognition from Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, who commended the PortMiami team and cruise line partners for their dedication. Mayor Cava emphasized the impact of Port of Miami on the city’s skyline, economy, and commitment to sustainable development, ensuring its status as a forward-thinking gateway to the world.
Hydi Webb, Director and CEO of Port Miami, expressed gratitude to the cruise lines for their collaboration in achieving this milestone. With the upcoming season, Port of Miami will see a fleet of new ships setting sail, including the Explora II, Resilient Lady, World America, Norwegian Aqua, Brilliant Lady, and Oceania Allura.
Exciting developments are on the horizon for Port Miami, with MSC Cruises set to open the new Cruise Terminal AA, expected to be the largest cruise terminal in North America upon completion in the coming spring. Additionally, plans for the construction of the new Cruise Terminal G for Royal Caribbean International are set to begin in the summer of 2025.
Port of Miami continues to lead the way in sustainability efforts, unveiling shore power installations earlier this year. This initiative makes Miami the first major cruise port on the U.S. eastern seaboard to offer shore power capability at five cruise berths.
As Port of Miami celebrates this extraordinary achievement, it solidifies its reputation as a world-class cruise hub, setting sail towards a future of innovation and growth in the industry. The commitment to excellence and sustainable practices ensures that Port of Miami remains a premier choice for cruise passengers worldwide.
