If consumer protection were a serious concern in the USA, overweight americans would be less that 10% of the population, pharmaceuticals would be affordable, and people could not own high powered machine guns. The dems add a layer, the gop takes it away and no one does a serious job.

If the "too big to fail" banking system hates the CFPB, you know it must be doing something right.

This dude is pulling out the “debt” card? Didn’t Trump add several $ trillion $$ to the national debt by the end of his first term? And his new tax proposal is by most accounts (even conservative financial experts) is likely to add several trillion $$ more to the US national debt by the end of his 2nd term. How does adding an another so called government agency to be headed by two shady people with zero government experience that doesn’t add much value but is proposed for the purpose of privatizing the federal government and to stop investigations into greedy corporations and Billionaires make the government more efficient? You’ve got to use another tactic to sell people on making the rich richer lol.

I remember talking to someone who worked for the Federal government, and he told me he would never get fired and would always have his job, benefits, pension, and security. This same person also worked remotely from home and I witnessed that most of the time he didn't even work and was doing "housework." So, what's wrong with this picture???

This trust fund baby has a lot of audacity. He comes to the US, goes from rich to filthy rich thanks to Americans, then he wants to cut services that help ordinary Americans.

Billionaires finally have their nuclear weapons.
America is no longer land of the free today it is the land of the privilege made secure through strength. Billionaires already own the World Bank now they can come home to America and get a ride into outer space to oversee all that they possess… America is their new home and place of work to delegating power so AI can keep the masses under control. Owning the world is a complicated business that makes it very important to own social media to keep people from realizing they are slaves belonging to a system that is being manipulated by the "powers that be".… Caesar would be proud!

There can be no doubt that this year is worse than the last. I lost a lot of money this year as a result of making bad investing decisions that I would not have made if I hadn't been so worried about my portfolio. I continued to invest, but I wasn't sure if I should start saving for a house. I ultimately had to sell everything I owned since the house required more upkeep than I had anticipated. I'm not sure how long I can continue in this manner

Maybe he wants do something shady with DOGE coin. Capitalism does not get any better then this, billionaires decides what government agencies we're going to have which ones we don't, but I'm sure they are with the american people.

First, convince the consumer not to be protected, and then open the gate and let the financial wolves out on the consumers.
That sounds like a good idea, so let's start in the red states and work our way to the blue states. -

This department sounds like a remote controller that’s not plugged in. I guess Trump had to hand Musk something for all the “help” with star link assisting in the vote counting.

It’s insane having a political team of billionaires to rule the middle and lower working classes. This has always gone terrible in history. Ask Rome.

CFPB had a budget of 622 million in the financial year 2023 , total government spending was 6.2 trillion. This would save 0.01%. They have a year (DOGE shuts down in July 2026), they should be looking at eliminating waste from a large government department, and fostering a culture of efficiency rather than eliminating entire government departments.

The CFPD accounts for just 0.03% of the federal budget—great job, Musk. In 2023, the U.S. government allocated $22.6 billion to NASA, while spending $32,000 for each electric vehicle sold. Musk, time to reconsider this approach.

Yea, I'm gonna say destroying consumer protections to stop another 2008 would be a bad idea. If you are going to do that, at least bring back the Glass-Steagall

Of course, the greatest market manipulator of our time will shut down the consumer protection agency when we know that his made-in-China Teslas that he cut prices and production costs on have the worst quality control among EVs on the market.

CFPB helped me tremendously after my brother had credit card debt and then lost his job. His creditors came after me trying to persuade me to pay something, anything on his debt or he or I could be arrested. Not true, but they were just wanting some money. They called me multiple times a day, day after day.. They only stopped after I contacted the CFPB.

Isnt' it funny that musk is looking for efficiencies only in those agencies that keep him from making even more money?
