I've picked lobster meat for the past 10 years and just in that time things have changed a lot. The guys have a harder time finding them, being forced to go into deeper waters and even then there's slow catches.

Why do they ‘V notch’ the lobsters tail to tell future fishermen who catch the lobster it has laid eggs before? Is the next fisherman going to automatically let it go even if it does not have eggs next time it is caught? Does that lobster have an eternal get of jail card?
