Discover How This Quiet Retiree Found Their Dream Home!

Settle into the cozy chair as we embark on a journey through the five-month-old realm of my new home. Although time has blurred the novelty, the freshness lingers like a sweet memory. Flashback to 2018, when I penned down ‘eight things I love about my house,’ a sentiment that has traveled with me to this new abode.

Curious minds may question the reason behind this move, a tale I revealed in an earlier post labeled “Never Say Never.” The process of transitioning to a new house is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, swinging from delightful to overwhelming. The thrill of choosing fixtures dims when faced with the reality of unexpected changes, like the flooring fiasco we encountered, where flexibility triumphed, and love for the new prevailed.

Reflecting on the initial setbacks, our journey began with a glitch: a disrupted hot water supply, reminiscent of our shaky start. Mechanical malfunctions threatened to dampen our spirits, each issue testing our patience. Yet, commendations are due to our builder, who tackled the challenges with diligence, setting right what was wrong.

Transitioning to a new abode felt like stepping into unfamiliar territory. The absence of familiar furniture left a void, echoing with memories yet to be made. The gradual metamorphosis into a lived-in space, punctuated by childlike delights over bean bag chairs and mindful decor decisions, breathed life into the newfound rooms.

What Makes This House Our Home:

  1. The Size:
Transitioning from 2100 to 3300 square feet was an adjustment, enhancing our living space without overwhelming us. The rooms expanse offered a sense of liberation, a gift of newfound roominess.

  2. The Openness:
Liberated from the confines of our previous abode, this house boasts fluidity and space to breathe. Hosting gatherings is now a pleasure without the specter of cramped quarters looming.

  3. The Colors:
Bright, airy hues replace the dim shadows of the past, infusing lightness and joy into everyday living. Sunlit days find their perfect setting in our color palette, uplifting moods and spaces alike.

Exploring our abode, I found it impossible to play favorites amongst the rooms. Each space holds a piece of our journey, a slice of comfort. However, if pressed for choice, the sitting room emerges as a personal oasis, cherished for its warmth and tranquility.

A visual journey unfolds through imperfectly perfect snapshots capturing snippets of our life within these walls. From master suites to creative corners, each frame holds a piece of our heart, shared unfiltered and adorned with holiday cheer.

The grand tour concludes, leaving room for tales of selling woes and tiny wishes for our new haven. While the process remains a battle against fleeting boxes and endless adjustments, the essence of ‘home’ remains undimmed amidst the chaos.

As the dust settles, one truth prevails: my disdain for moving remains unwavering. But amidst the chaos and clutter, the joy of crafting a new space eclipses the inconvenience, turning a house into a realm of laughter and love.
