Tariffs ain't new but US failed to get any positive results but own inflation,more deficits w other countries and ruined trade relationships w allies or not. Moreover, US is still dealing with the Chinese owned companies abroad. Even belligerent and unfriendly environment toward Chinese companies still relied on China for the parts, systems and expertise, like or not. India's trade w China has not shrunk too but even overtook US last year.
Foolish policies and strategic diplomacy failures on India's part too.

To put it in perspective what the poor China makes in one's year trade is still less than what the rich US spends over $1 trillion on servicing its treasury notes/papers/bonds.
If you don't believe me look at the current LA wildfires. Despite over 12,000 homes have been destroyed the mighty US can still send $500 million to Ukraine and another $8 billion to Israel. -
