Social media giants like Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Messenger are slowly resurfacing today after experiencing widespread technical glitches that caused disruptions for several hours. In an update on X, the company mentioned that they were almost at the finish line, just conducting final checks to ensure smooth operations.
The source of the issue remains unknown, leaving users in the dark about when the problems will be entirely resolved. Despite some major disruptions still showing on Meta’s status dashboard for business and transparency tools, services like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads, and Messenger appear to have largely recovered from the recent disruptions.
Earlier today, over 90,000 reports of issues were recorded for Facebook.com alone on Downdetector, with users from various platforms reporting difficulties in loading and using Meta’s applications. Even Meta’s own website displayed a message stating that the page wasn’t available at that moment.
This isn’t the first time Meta has faced such challenges, with the last major outage occurring in March 2024 and lasting for two hours. Meta’s communication director, Andy Stone, attributed the earlier outage to technical issues, a similar explanation to what is being provided for the current situation.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve the remaining issues. Stay tuned for further updates on the situation. Thank you for your support during this period of disruption on our platforms.
