The Monroe doctrine was a lie from the beginning. All it did was push everything into the dark. Nations still try to influence everyone on earth, Radio Free America as an example (political influence), Honduras Drug interventions (military influence) in the 80's for another. So it doesn't prevent anything, it just keeps it hidden until violence breaks out. In other words, the Monroe doctrine just kept the citizens from knowing who is saying or doing what to whom. That's what it is designed to do. To keep the citizens in the dark. Don't forget that the Doctrine began with the spread of Telegraphs.

The last 3 or so generations of Americans probably have never even heard of the Monroe Doctrine, much less understand its purpose or importance. Probably the same could be said about their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution. But I guarantee they can tell you the names of every Kardashian family member, and what outfit they most recently are marketing.
