How democratic is it when a candidate wins a primary in a gerrymandered district where a plurality not a majority is all it takes to win and there are 4 or more candidates in the race? And since the district is Gerrymandered that candidate will be a "shoe in" in the general election. This is how very extreme candidates get elected. Remember he did not get a majority in the primary. Many times these candidate will have less than 20% of the primary vote.

That’s the problem with “ranked choice” voting … it’s no choice at all. At the final election, all you have is two or three democrats to “choose” from. (This is very USSR, where you “chose” between different communist candidates. That is why we have the two party system. Weak or strong, there is a CHOICE.
