'There's Good News': John Kennedy Celebrates Passage Of Two New Reforms To Social Security

It made a lot of sense. Rarely do I disagree with Kennedy but I do on this

    Kennedy…you are AWESOME!!

    Amen. Its a start.

    Well said.

Sorry man…just not good enough. These changes affect a small segment of recipients. You know how much I got for a COLA for 2025? …..$40. Yep 40 f'n huge dollars and that's after taking more out for a Medicare increase. This doesn't help me at all! Give us a decent increase …at least $500 per month and change to the Cpi-E calculation for a more accurate method adjusting for cost of living and stop taking money from the SSI general fund for your f'n pork. Do right by all those who've worked a lifetime, paid into the system for a dignified retirement. Not looking to get rich here man.

Are these offsets due to these government employees not having to pay into Social Security during their government careers? I had such a plan for some years. I wasn't paying into Social Security during those years and shouldn't get credit for those years in my social security payments now. That's totally reasonable and fair. The government deferred compensation plan built up more money than social security would have given me if I'd paid that money into SSA. Why should I get both for the same years, during which I only paid into one?
Senator Kennedy always seems to have a reason why people need the federal government to give them money. He needs to help bring spending below revenue before pushing for more of that.

I'm glad they were able to fix these SS problems for government workers, that's nice.

I wish there was help for elderly nobody's like me. I was never a cop or government worker. I worked in factories most of my working life.

Sen. Kennedy is funny and entertaining but am realizing he's slick and lethal. No longer trust him either- add him to the list.

68 Million Americans on Social Security and this covers about 3 million. Us other 65 million get nothing except the COLA raise of 2.5%.

Give us back our SS money! It's a government run Ponzi scheme. With passing this legislation a teacher, police officer or firefighter, who paid into a pension, then worked elsewhere & paid into SS will get 90% of their SS instead of 50%. Meaning, going from $1900 a month to $3600 a month.
What about the rest of us?
If we didn't get hurt, commit a crime, fall victim to a crime or start a fire they wouldn't even have a job.

So does this mean that anyone who receives a pension is covered by these new laws? Just asking for a friend.

Now pass no tax on SS, no cap on FICA and calculate COLA fairly.

Yep. And the woke will tell you that Republicans are trying to erase social security. In the meantime, they do this, promise to NOT touch SS or Medicare as their party platform, and not raise the retirement age. Plus no taxes on SS. Hmmmm.

Pensions used to be able to go as high (some cases higher) than 100% of your previous salary. That is no longer the case in most places so I think it does make sense now to let people combine them with whatever SS benefits they can get. Now we just need to figure out how to stop the federal government from wasting so much money that SS becomes irreverent.

So how does this apply to overpaid polititians' who retire from Congress and become overpaid lobbyists?

I never thought we would see this pass in our lifetime. Thank you for repealing WEP!

Who is Responsible for implementing that Asinine law in the first place?🤔… Pure Communism!

What about the 2,000,000 dead people that SS is paying to? And have been and knows they have been???? Its called a "trust fund"! Is this the same SS we the people get? Why are we being deprived of our old people trust fund??? We are the creditor of our own money, that through the ageny=we are the signature, and why is it made difficult for us to understand that we have been bought and sold all our lives as slaves from the money that our government can use for theyre own special needs program? I paid it, I own it, I want it; since "I am the *signature"!!??!! "Word salads" afloat….. We all got screwed, didnt we?

Stop the taxes on social security for those 65 & older nationwide.

Another govt money grab lining their own pockets. Now they get a big fat pension AND social security. Working for the govt shouldn't be the key to fabulous retirement wealth. Why would anybody want to work for the private sector now?

Now you have to keep the congress from stealing our money to spend that is in SS keep your hands off it

Apparently now Kennedy is a fan of spending money the government doesn't have.

My wife and I are both disabled. We had no pensions. But as a couple, we are capped. Together we get about 1,400 a month. We both had jobs and worked hard. If there is a cost of living increases, she get a raise and I get deducted. Yet these government employees get help……….. this is government as usual. Pay off the unions like usual.

This is the next SS thing that needs to go (full retirement age is 66 and 4 months for someone born in 1958 and rises by two months each birth year until it settles at 67 for people born in 1962 or later.) Honestly retirement should be at age 55-60 should kick in automatically

What about the 68 million retired people who built this country? do you only pass things that put more money in the pockets of Congressmen?

Thank you, John, for all you do for this country!! I wish we had 100 more just like you. God Bless Sir.

Now, let's get corporations paying into SS fund for their overseas employees. Not those employees, but the corporations who moved American jobs overseas. One of the reasons they find it cheaper to run their business this way is because they don't pay into SS anymore for overseas employees. Yet we still have the same, and even growing, number of Americans. Many of whom are are taking lower paid jobs because, not only is the labor cheaper overseas, but the SS taxes don't have to be paid.

We can at least get corporations to pay the SS taxes for the salaries paid to employees overseas.

Now we have to stop punishing people people for being granted their Social Security COLA. By deducting food stamp benefits because of their COLA. Like this year I get a $30 raise from Social Security. So the government punishes me by reducing my food stamps by $20.
