‘I found another apartment for 00 in the same area with w/d in-unit and a dishwasher. Should I tell realtor 1 he took too long?’

Moving Diaries,

Apartment hunting is no walk in the park, am I right? I checked out two spots and boy, oh boy, do I have a story for ya!

So Apartment 1 seemed like a steal at $1,250. It had a small balcony and a tub, but no dishwasher or w/d. The previous tenant stayed there for 13 years. Sounds like a good sign, right? But then came Apartment 2 for $1,350. It had a dishwasher and newer w/d, but no outdoor space or tub. Both places had hardwood floors, so that’s a plus!

I applied for Apartment 1 and waited, and waited, and waited. The realtor seemed to be dragging his feet, so I decided not to waste any more time. I found Apartment 2, which I liked even more. The realtor was super responsive and even dropped the price to $1,325 for me. Can you believe it?

Now I have two leases in the works. The realtor for Apartment 1 was taking his sweet time, so I’m thinking of giving him a little nudge. Is it petty of me? Should I just stick with Apartment 2 and move on?

Thanks for any advice you might have!

Cheers,
Apartment Hunter

Response from THE MOVING DIARIES:

Hello there,

While it may be understandably frustrating to deal with unresponsive realtors and delayed applications, it’s important to approach the situation with a clear and practical mindset. In this case, it seems like you have found a more responsive realtor for Apartment 2, who is willing to work with you and provide a suitable living arrangement within your budget.

Considering the factors at play – such as the amenities offered, responsiveness of the realtor, and your own time constraints – it sounds like Apartment 2 may be a better fit for your current situation. You’ve already submitted your application and received a favorable offer, so it seems like you are on the right track to securing a place that meets your needs.

In regards to Apartment 1 and the potential response to the realtor, it’s essential to maintain professionalism and avoid being petty in your communication. It’s always good to keep doors open and leave a positive impression, even if you ultimately choose not to move forward with that particular lease.

Therefore, a more appropriate response to the realtor for Apartment 1 could be along the lines of: “Thank you for your assistance with the application process. I’ve secured another place that better aligns with my preferences and needs. I appreciate your time and wish you the best of luck in finding a suitable tenant for Apartment 1.”

Remember, it’s all about finding the right living situation that works best for you. Good luck with your move!

Best,
THE MOVING DIARIES
