The unfortunate part about this is that he didn't actually answer the question. Good question asked, decent answer given, but not the answer to the question asked. He talked nothing about managing damage as a result of natural disasters. I guess managing water in CA could be a roundabout way of addressing drought specific disaster concerns, but doesn't quite address situations of peoples homes being jeopardized or destroyed due to natural disasters. Even if the answer is "that's a problem for insurance and Red Cross", that at least is a reasonable answer that would follow a more Republican mindset of creating conditions for private industry to step in and take on those situations. I dunno, maybe I'm asking too much of a politician in campaign mode. 😂

Here's a though – maybe don't build up communities beyond the capacity of resources available to you to support and then expect you have a right to strip resources from other communities in the country. Just saying.

I'm astounded by all the comments claiming how great it was that he answered the question. He talked about diverting water, which can benefit farmers, help with fire suppression or, theoretically, even fire prevention. I suspect turning on this giant faucet is not nearly so simple however. More importantly, the question asked was… how would you deal with homes falling into the ocean in California and with Americans across the country whose homes are threatened by the increased frequency of natural disasters. More water flow is not a solution to these two problems.

Yes Donny we have a large tap that controls all of North America fresh water, we turned it this year and Calgary had no water , they had great water , you know why they call it great water cause it comes from the Great Lakes in Canada but that water comes from Newfoundland mountains, hidden pipes 😂😂😂😂

The operating expenses and energy demands of local desalination is just about the same as pumping water from Sacramento over the Tehachapi mountains and into LA. Desalinate locally, recycle wastewater locally. We don't need Sacramento's water.

So … why exactly is the water turned out to sea? And who actually has authority to make that call? It damn sure isn't about smelt. It's about food! Not too many years ago California grew 40% of the produce consumed in the US. They diverted the water to stop food production. THEY … have orchestrated a global food shortage. And shutting down California is part of their plan. Not the first time to hear this same claim. A woman standing in a canal reporting on the matter said she had been to the upstream end. And there was plenty of water. The canal was/is closed off. THEY are committing many crimes against the people.
