Breaking: Rupert Murdoch’s Streamer Tubi Goes Free in UK – Don’t Miss Out!

In an era where streaming services dominate the entertainment industry, Fox Corp has decided to join the fray by launching Tubi, a free streaming service in the UK. This move marks their entry into the competitive market for ad-supported digital TV, where giants like Netflix and Disney currently hold sway.

Key Points to Note:

  • Fox Corp’s Tubi will be a subscription-free service funded by advertisements
  • Over 20,000 movies and TV episodes will be available at launch, including popular titles like Billy Elliot and Pacific Rim.
  • Shows from major entertainment players like Disney, NBCUniversal, and Sony Pictures will be featured, alongside original content and productions from international markets such as India and Nigeria.

With the rise of paid subscriptions and rising prices in existing streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney, Tubi aims to provide a high-quality viewing experience without the need for registration or subscription. Targeted mainly at viewers who have never subscribed to a pay-TV package or have opted out of traditional subscriptions, Tubi has garnered nearly 80 million monthly active users and has found favor among younger audiences.

CEO of Tubi, Anjali Sud, emphasized the inclusive nature of Tubi by stating that everyone should have access to great content without the hassle of tiered subscriptions or registration requirements. The service also plans to offer a diverse range of content, including local British shows, art house content, and international productions from Bollywood and Nollywood.

Despite the competitive landscape in the UK, where viewers have numerous options ranging from US streaming giants to free public sector broadcasters like the BBC, ITV, and Channel 4, Tubi is confident in its ability to carve a niche for itself. Sud mentioned that Tubi might eventually include news and sports programming from Fox’s other TV services in the UK.

As Tubi prepares to launch in the UK in the coming weeks, it aims to provide a unique and accessible streaming experience that caters to a broad audience. By offering a wide range of content and focusing on user experience, Tubi is poised to make a significant impact in the UK streaming market.
