70% of US workers are bracing for job cuts. Here's why

    I guess GenX wasn't asked

Every time they report this crap, they skip an entire generation of people called Gen X. Gen X are those in their 40s and 50s right at the heart and center of the workforce. They are not boomers and they are not millennials or Gen Z. How do you even discuss this without discussing Gen X???

It makes sense to have this mentality. People must save at least 1 full year emergency fund because the older and more experienced you are, the longer and harder it will be to find another job, and if you’re over 50, you’re basically unemployable and you need to get ready to hustle on your own.

Work for yourselves. A corporation will lay you off just to hire a third-worlder.

I got a job because I put a checkmark that I was biracial half black. It works.

    Because our leaders are incompetent!

Of course the cocky boomers feel safe. Boomers were all they let go in our first round. They cost the most. No one immune to corporate greed.

NOT … someone is not studying the studies 😂🤣🙂‍↔️😒

Actually the want ads for employment seem to have increased! The problem is the biden economy and COVID had price increases to the point a 60k a year employee can’t take that job. Bring prices down and let’s GO. Trump 2024!

“It’s not everything” “there’s more to life” … lol

You did not include those that are sef-employed because you cannot lay yourself off, but the market conditions may be such that although you employ yourself you may not get work because AI is replacing what you do. That leads to a high amount of employment anxiety. So you need to include those who are self-employed in the study and not give some half-baked retort on why you excluded 1099 workers.

Sounds like fearmongering. AI is not a good listener, and 1000 is a poor sample for a study of all working Americans. Fear the rabbit hole.

Most of the Job growth is in Government.

Bunch of talk without actual data to support the topic.

There will be a massive shortage in blue collar workers. AI can't lay bricks, lay electrical lines, or rebuild an engine.

My husband and i are Gen x. We've experienced several job losses over the decades. 2008 was scary because we had an 18 month old and then i gave birth to twins and my husbands entire department shut down. My husband had tears wondering how he was going to take care of me and all these babies. I vowed at that moment as soon as i recovered from my caection surgery, i was going to work like crazy so that i never had to see him that fearful again. I reached that goal and now we travel the US, Canada, and Asia fulltime with our 3 teens without much worry.

When government needs money, it prints more money. When American people need money, the government raises taxes.

1000 worker from a pool of 167.6 workers isn't a large enough pool for accuracy.

Low unemployment is such a lie. These jobs are people who went BACK to work after the pandemic

Thank you Biden for all these fast food minimum wage jobs 😂 what a joke

I wouldn't mind AI answering phones for people who don't like putting their credit card information online. I've had people get mad at me because they said their credit card information too fast or I couldn't understand what they said.

This is what tech has been going through for the last 2 years.

I have never been laid off. I think this number is blown way out of proportion this is ridiculous. 70 percent of people come on. That would be over 200mil people

“You see here, young’uns…in my day, there were these things called ‘Jobs’. Back then, there were a lot of them. Them few of them. Now, practically none of them.”

I work for a service company and since the beginning of the year the workload and revenue is on a decline. They are mostly not replacing those who leave. I am pessimistic and don't expect a positive switch in 2024. I kind of expect if the trends continue they will have no choice to start layoffs in Q4. I am also looking at the job posting everyday for better salary conditions, but after 2 months I haven't had any interview. I thought I could do manager work in other types of industries because I have the required skills but what I get is that skill aside, the employers are looking more into experience. So if your are a manager in pharmaceuticals industry then you will not be able to find manager work in manufactures or else. I also see a lot of posting asking for a bacchelor degree (which I dont have) and that are surprisingly paying less than what I currently do. This, I was saving to buy a new couch but I intend pospone to keep my savings just in case I get laid off.

Everyone can check the WARN tracker online to see if their company is reporting mass layoffs. It is mandatory that they report it ahead of time and it’ll be listed on there once they do.

Here in austin we had mass layoffs in tech and media plus tesla. Our unemployment went down. Layoffs cause people to leave the workforce nowadays the laid-off disappear to who knows were.

Matt Brannon himself might be preparing for being laid off! 😂

It doesn't look like Matt Brannon interviewed from an office.
    Don't trust remote/telecommuting journalists! 😂

340 million people country and they surveyed 1000? Is this a student project generalized as a clintry-wide news? What the heck is this come on!

JOB CUTS! we barley have enough people to keep s**t going, God forbid someone calls out sick. Good luck trying to cut jobs and or pay. maybe in tech and government fields.

    go UNION,

If I were on a W2 I’d be bracing for it with a potential Trump return too.

Unemployment is NOT low. Counting fake job postings is not effective. Also, why are they interviewing some little kid who was in diapers 10 years ago?

$20 for flipping burgers , that explains it
